Joyce lives with her girlfriend Phyllis, a university professor, and her 21-year old son Jared, who might have Asperger’s syndrome. The uneasy balance in their home gets turned on its head when a photographer, famous for his nude portraits of women, comes to stay as part of Body Awareness Week at the local college. While Phyllis dismisses the portraits as exploitative, Joyce can’t help but find them beautiful. So begins a week of self-reflection and self-discovery in this contemporary family’s life. With wit and compassion, ‘Body Awareness’ by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker (The Aliens, Circle Mirror Transformation, The Flick) explores whether we can ever really be right.
